About

Modern Homes was formed in 1982, by Michael and Elaine Burns, retailing kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms from a rented property on South Watt Street, Workington, now a child care centre.

In 1985 the present property was purchased which covers 3 floors, which was converted into a kitchen and bedroom showroom.

Joanna, their daughter, joined the business in 2004 after gaining her university degree, and through her enthusiasm brings the latest products and design to this part of West Cumbria

Modern Homes traded from a showroom in Puerto Banus, Marbella until 2009, when the recession
hit hard on the Costa del Sol. After closing the showroom, Modern Homes still supplies kitchens and bedrooms to Marbella through Halcyon Properties, which is located in the Cristimar Centre, Puerto Banus.

At Modern Homes, which has have been trading for 36 years, it has been imperative to keep up with the latest trends in the furniture and appliance industry.

Our Kitchen & Bedroom Furniture
We supply three main brands, which can allow us to facilitate most client’s budgets.
Our flagship German kitchens are manufactured by Hacker, one of the largest family owned companies, supplying kitchens to over 20 Countries.
Hacker is our contemporary mid to high-end market range, offering the latest in design and colour choice. We have seven large displays in our showroom from this range.

Ashley Ann is our traditional supplier, they are again a family owned company. They are based in Wick, as far north as you can go in Scotland.
Most kitchens from Ashley Ann are painted timber, offering any Farrow and Ball colour, again they are the middle to luxury end of the kitchen ranges.

Our UK supplier offers a large range of kitchens, from an entry range to compete with many of the large DIY stores to a luxury painted range. They are very competitive in price and allows us to be able to supply a kitchen within five working days, at an affordable budget.

Bedrooms are also supplied from our UK manufacturer.
The Stately range has a large choice of colours and most can be delivered in 7 days.
We also offer a sliding robe system, all are on show at Oxford Street.

Appliances
We can supply most brands of appliances at competitive prices.
Our main supplier are the BSH Group, who manufacturer Siemens, Neff and Bosch.
As we stock Siemens, we can normally match or beat internet prices.

Design Service
Our experienced team will work endlessly with you to insure you are happy with the products and the designs.
It is most important that the Sales Designer knows their products in order to pass this on to the end user.

Service
Our success of the past years is mainly down to the Service we offer, taking the stress out of the installation process of a new kitchen. All our installations are carried out by time served tradesmen.
At Modern Homes we co-ordinate the works to insure it is carried out efficiently with the least amount of disruption as possible.
